Life Lately

I haven’t been regularly blogging as much as I used to earlier this year but I miss it! What I had mentioned in the last blog post I had made were hopes, dreams, and my emerging hobby of fiction writing. It’s been a few months since then and I will say I have definitely kept my word and continued to write in my free time. :)) It’s super fun and I think I figured out a style of writing that feels authentic to me. I can blog and share my thoughts and feelings but ultimately my strong suit is fiction writing. While I am introspective at heart, my creativity and ability to write is much more tied to my imagination and wanderlust, not necessarily my need to express my emotions somewhere. So overall having an outlet for my daydreams and imagination is the greatest thing I have discovered in recent years. I am very proud of myself for taking the plunge and giving writing a go. :PP

Aside from that, I’ve been more immersed in fandom silliness and making edits. I love editing so much I finally switched to a different more advanced editing software that’s not just capcut called alight motion and it’s truly opened my eyes to the potential editing opportunities. My edit account has been doing so well, too. I have about 800 followers right now. One of my edits got over 12k likes which was ridiculous but I appreciate it nonetheless. I like the little community I found, I practically post every other day because it’s so fun to stay consistent when I really like an interest of mine. My edit account is mainly focused on AOT so it’s nice to find other people who love it as much as I do. Speaking of AOT, I finally got the first volume of the manga yay! It has a lot of my favorite Mikasa scenes so I HAD to get it. She’s probably my favorite character ever at this point, keeping in mind Misa from Death Note has been my fave since I was 11, Mikasa beat her at first place in less than a year! She’s just that cool… ;DD

One of the reasons I really missed blogging here is the fact that it’s a great place to document the current media roaming about my mind. A couple weeks ago I watched Frankenstein (2025) and it was amazing! It totally made me cry. It was one of those movies that I wasn’t expecting would become an instant favorite but totally did become that! The complex relationship between Victor and the creature was so heartbreakingly beautiful. It really captured the generational cycles of familial trauma. I could empathize with Victor but I also could see his faults as a parent to the creature. I also loved the creature! It was honestly really cool to see Jacob Elordi in a more serious role like this. He was my biggest celeb crush in 2023 when Priscilla was released but this role made me truly love his character so much!

I also was inclined to watch it because AOT fans had compared the creature to Eren and I was interested in seeing the similarities in both characters and I did see them! The creature’s relationship to Elizabeth reminds me so much of eremika <33 When Elizabeth tells Victor that she saw pain in the creature’s eyes “and what is pain if not evidence of intelligence?” and when Mikasa describes seeing the “fury of of the human race incarnate” upon first encountering Eren’s titan form… yeah I saw those parallels!!! ;P Funnily enough I really did not care for male monstrous characters as possible love interests when I was younger, I was much more attracted to the classic princely type. But I’ve grown to really like the trope! I really enjoy female characters that see beauty in the monstrous, not just in their love interests, but the way it becomes their worldview in general, I find that really fascinating and endearing of them. I also just really enjoyed Elizabeth’s character. Sometimes it is really hard for it to feel like the female character’s are put on equal footing to the male characters, so I really was happy to see how she was portrayed :,,)

I’ve also been really drawn to the concept of gothic romance as of late. One of my tt mutuals mentioned that the edits I make have a gothic romantic feel to them which is literally such a cool compliment. I think it’s further motivating me to read Wuthering Heights once and for all! I absolutely adore the song by Kate Bush… but I need to read it! I have watched one of the movie adaptations (the 2011 one) and it was lovely but lacked dialogue that I so desperately need. So reading it is! I think I also want to watch the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet… the thing is I HAVE watched it but I kinda was drowsy through it (had to watch during sophomore English class online during peak pandemic…) so it doesn’t count… I will possibly update on that and Wuthering Heights :PP
